Oregon Marbled Murrelet Project - Eugene Garden Club
Sponsored by the Portland Audubon Society, Sierra Club/Many Rivers Group Chapter, Lane County Audubon Chapter.
Please join on us in learning about the hidden world of a secretive seabird. The Marbled Murrelet is a threatened seabird that inhabits Oregon’s coastal areas and can nest >40 miles inland within older forests, making it especially challenging for researchers to understand its breeding ecology. In this presentation Dr. Jim Rivers, lead scientist for the Oregon Marbled Murrelet Project, will discuss why murrelets are so unique, outline what it takes to locate active murrelet nests, and share recent findings from the project.
